Pasture-Raised Foods

Farm Fresh Eggs ~
Our flock of laying
hens is made up of beautiful and rare breeds. Our hens spend their days
in the sun, munching on green grass and an occasional bug. We offer them
freshly-ground feed which includes an organic vitamin/mineral mix, corn,
soymeal, oats, and alfalfa. The hens have plenty to space in their
chicken house to lay their eggs and to safely roost at night. The eggs
produced by these hens have deep orange yolks and substantial whites.

Broiler Chickens ~
We raise these
birds from baby chicks. After 2 weeks in a brooder, they are moved onto
grass. We house them in a portable pen, which we move onto fresh grass
each morning. Broilers receive the same nutritious feed given to our
laying hens (see "eggs" above). By about 8 weeks, the birds are
ready to be dressed. We do all of the processing ourselves, or, if we are
lucky, a few neighbors show up to help. Most of our broilers dress out at
4 ½ to 5 ½ pounds and they are delicious.

Grassfed Beef ~
Our cattle spend their days in the
pasture. We rotationally graze our herd which means they are moved
onto a new area of pasture, usually once a day. We do not use antibiotics or
hormones to stimulate growth. We always use low-stress handling methods
with our cattle.
